                <text>Background: Sunburn is the main avoidable cause of skin cancer. Beach lifeguards spend many hours&#13;
exposed to the effects of solar radiation during their work day, precisely at times of the year when levels&#13;
of solar irradiation are highest. The aim of this study is to quantify the risk to beach lifeguards of sun&#13;
exposure.&#13;
Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out in the Western Costa del Sol, southern&#13;
Spain, during the summer of 2018. The research subjects were recruited during a skin cancer prevention course for beach lifeguards. All participants were invited to complete a questionnaire on their habits, attitudes, and knowledge related to sun exposure. In addition, ten were specially monitored using personal dosimeters for three consecutive days, and the results were recorded in a photoprotection diary. A descriptive analysis (mean and standard deviation for the quantitative variables) was performed, and&#13;
inter-group differences were evaluated using the ManneWhitney U test.&#13;
Results: Two hundred fifteen lifeguards completed the questionnaire, and 109 met the criteria for in-&#13;
clusion in this analysis. The mean age was 23.8 years (SD: 5.1), 78.0% were male, 71.5% were phototype III or IV (Fitzpatrick's phototype), and 77.1% had experienced at least one painful sunburn during the&#13;
previous summer. The mean daily personal ultraviolet exposure per day, the minimal erythema dose, and the standard erythema dose, in J/m2, were 634.7 [standard deviation (SD): 356.2], 2.5 (SD: 1.4) and 6.35 (SD: 3.6), respectively.&#13;
Conclusion: Beach lifeguards receive very high doses of solar radiation during the work day and experience correspondingly high rates of sunburn. Intervention strategies to modify their sun exposure&#13;
behavior and working environment are necessary to reduce the risk of skin cancer for these workers and&#13;
to promote early diagnosis of the disease.</text>

                <text>Background: Noise-induced hearing loss is a well-known occupational disease that affects many fish&#13;
harvesters from many fisheries worldwide, whose risk factor is prolonged exposure to hazardous noise&#13;
levels. To date, academic research activities and regulatory bodies have not provided any comparative analysis among the existing methods to assess noise exposure levels of fish harvesters. This paper provides a comparison of four relevant assessment methods of noise exposure, examining the results of a measurement campaign performed onboard small fishing vessels from Newfoundland and Labrador.&#13;
Methods: We traveled onboard 11 vessels engaged in multiple fisheries from Newfoundland and Lab-&#13;
rador and performed extensive noise exposure surveys using the simplified International Maritime Organization method, the full-day measurement method, and the two methods provided by ISO 9612:2009, the task-based method and job-based method (JBM).&#13;
Results: The results showed that the four methods yield similar values when the noise components are&#13;
dominated by the engine and auxiliaries (steady-state sources); when noise components are dominated by the fishing gear, task-based method and the simplified International Maritime Organization method estimates are less accurate than JBM, using full-day measurements as baseline.&#13;
Conclusion: The JBM better assesses noise exposure in small-scale fisheries, where noise exposure has significant variance and uncertainties on the exposure levels are higher.</text>

                <text>Background: Occupational health and safety (OHS) is a significant interest of all governments to prevent workplace hazards. Although appropriate legislation and regulations are essentials for the protection of workers, they are solely not enough. Application of them in practice should be secured by an efficient inspection system. Fundamental components of an inspection system are inspectors and their audit tasks. Maintaining the fair balanced task assignment among inspectors strictly enhances the efficiency of the overall system.&#13;
Methods: This study proposes a two-phased goal programming approach for OHS inspectors' task as-&#13;
signments and presents a case study.&#13;
Results: The solution approach gives the balanced assignment of inspectors to the workplaces in&#13;
different cities of the country in the planning period. The obtained schedule takes into account the&#13;
distances covered by the work places and the number of the workplaces' employees to be audited and pays attention to the human factors by considering the preferences of the inspectors. The comparisons between the obtained optimal schedule and the implemented one that is produced manually show that the approach not only maintains the technical requirements of the problem, but also provides social and physical balance to the task assignment.&#13;
Conclusion: Both the approach and the application study are expected to offer fruitful inspirations in the area of safety management and policy and they provide a good guide for social policy and organizational aspects in the field of OHS inspectors' task assignment.</text>

                <text>Lung granulomas are uncommon in Thailand. The disease typically develops from an occupational&#13;
environment and is mostly caused by infection. Herein is a case report of a female patient, aged 48,&#13;
working as a nurse in an Accident and Emergency Department at a hospital. Eighteen years prior to&#13;
admission the patient was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis and pulmonary tuberculosis. The chest X-ray and CT scans showed a solitary pulmonary nodule in the lower left lung. The patient received an open thoracotomy with a left lobectomy. Granulomatous and nonseptate hyphae were found in the pathology diagnosis. The patient was thus diagnosed as having a lung granuloma. The galactomannan antigen test was positive. The solitary pulmonary noduledfound from the use of a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testdwas an Aspergillus spp. The fungus culture was collected from air samples. The air samples were collected by the impaction technique using a microbial air sampler. Three types of Aspergillus spp. were&#13;
found as well as Penicillium spp. and Monilia sitophila. The Aspergillus spp. was a match for the patient's disease. The patient was diagnosed as having a lung granuloma possibly Aspergillus nodule which was caused by airborne Aspergillus spp. from the occupational environment.</text>

                <text>Background: A well-designed shift schedule has been reported to have a positive effect on improving health problems associated with shift work. This study aimed to identify compliance with the 17 recommendations on work schedule (WSRs) for shift nurses and related factors.&#13;
Methods: The descriptive study was conducted with 182 nurses who worked in three shifts for more&#13;
than 1 year at superior general and general hospitals in three regions. Data were collected with self-administered questionnaire and 13-week work schedule tables, and analyzed with both person- and&#13;
cycle-based compliance.&#13;
Results: Person-based compliance was 11.77 among 17 items in total. However, no one completely&#13;
complied with WSRs of “no work on weekends” and which showed the lowest cycle-based compliance&#13;
(22.3%). Compliance with some WSRs was related to hospital type, proportion of nurses in school and&#13;
having standards on work schedule at institutional level.&#13;
Conclusion: Compliance with WSRs of shift nurses in Korea is still unsatisfactory, and one day off after&#13;
night shift and work on weekend are quite common. Hospitals should keep the standards on work schedule, monitor compliance with standards, and try to introduce modified shift systems to improve the current problems.</text>

                <text>Singapore’s construction sector employs more than 450,000 workers. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in Singapore from April to June 2020, migrant workers were disproportionately affected,&#13;
including many working in the construction sector. Shared accommodation and construction worksites&#13;
emerged as nexuses for COVID-19 transmission. Official government resources, including COVID-19&#13;
epidemiological data, 43 advisories and 19 circulars by Singapore’s Ministries of Health and Manpower, were reviewed over 8 month period from March to October 2020. From a peak COVID-19 incidence of 1,424.6/100,000 workers in May 2020, the incidence declined to 3.7/100,000 workers by&#13;
October 2020. Multilevel safe management measures were implemented to enable the phased reopening of construction worksites from July 2020. Using the Swiss cheese risk management model, the authors described the various governmental, industry, supervisory and worker-specific interventions to prevent, detect and contain COVID-19 for safe resumption of work for the construction sector.</text>

                <text>Background: Violence against health professionals is an increasing problem in Turkey. This study aims to determine the societal perception of violence, experience of violence, and the intentions to use violence against health professionals.&#13;
Methods: This descriptive study sample comprised 484 individuals. Data were collected by using the&#13;
“Descriptive Information Form” and “Intentions to Use Violence against Health Professionals Scale.”&#13;
Results: Of the participants, 8.3% used violence against health professionals. Most of the participants (81.2%) stated that violence was not a solution, and 65.9% believed that health professionals did not deserve violence. Past behavior of the participants was the most influential factor on the intention to use violence (b 1⁄4 .473, p 1⁄4 0.000). &#13;
Conclusions: More than half of the participants believed that health professionals did not deserve&#13;
violence and violence was not a solution. We found that intention to use violence was affected by past&#13;
experiences.</text>

The analysis was performed using ion chromatography with conductometric detection. The tests were performed on a Dionex IonPacAS22 analytic column (250  4 mm, 6 mm) with AG22 precolumn (50  4 mm 11 mm).&#13;
Results: The method provides for potassium bromate(V) determination within the concentration range of 0.043 O 0.88 mg/m3 for an air sample of 0.72 m3 in volume, i.e., 0.1e2 times the exposure limit value as proposed in Poland. The method was validated in accordance with PN-EN 482. The obtained validation data are as follows: measuring range: 3.1e63.4 mg/mL, limit of detection (LOD) 1⁄4 0.018 mg/mL and limit of quantification (LOQ) 1⁄4 0.053 mg/mL. The developed method has been tested in the work environment, on laboratory employees having contact with potassium bromate(V).&#13;
Conclusion: The analytical method allowed the determination of the inhalable fraction of airborne potassium bromate(V) at workplaces and can be used to assess occupational exposure.</text>

                <text>Introduction: We evaluated depression and anxiety in service and sales workers from Korea who&#13;
interacted with angry clients to identify factors that mediated and moderated depression and anxiety in&#13;
these workers.&#13;
Methods: This was a secondary analysis of data from the fifth Korean Working Conditions Survey conducted in 2017. A structural equation model was used for mediation and moderation analysis.&#13;
Results: Service and sales workers who had more interactions with angry clients had increased risk for depression and anxiety. Experiencing clients’ adverse behaviors (acute episodes) mediated the relationship between interacting with angry clients (a chronic situation) on depression and anxiety. Job&#13;
satisfaction and managers’ support moderated the relationship between interacting with angry clients&#13;
and mental health problems.&#13;
Conclusion: We suggest that employers of service and sales workers should recruit staff based on their&#13;
aptitude for such work, thus ensuring job satisfaction, and train them to deal with angry clients in such a way that they experience less emotional burden. Employers should also make bylaws requiring managers to directly take care of adverse social behavior by clients. Furthermore, a sociocultural campaign to prevent adverse social behavior by clients is also needed.</text>
