The validity was assessed by an Exploratory Factorial Analysis (EFA). The test-retest reliability and internal consistency were determined by using the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) and Cronbach’s Alpha, respectively. The Brief NORSCI was translated into the Portuguese language using a forward-backward translation design. The Portuguese version was then applied to a sample of 80 workers. After a 2-week period, workers were asked to fill out a second questionnaire to assess the psychometric properties of the Portuguese version of Brief NORSCI. In the test-retest, the ICC for the Brief NORSCI total score was moderate (0.70) and the Cronbach’s Alpha showed an acceptable internal consistency (=0.80). In addition, from the EFA resulted three dimensions according to the theoretical assumptions. The Portuguese version of Brief NORSCI was found to be a valid and a reliable tool to assess safety climate. During the period from 2019 to 2021, we are promoting activities focused on the primary prevention of lifestyle-related diseases. We thought that by intervening in the canteen of the workplace, we could provide many workers with opportunities to change their behavior. As information on a healthy canteen to aim for, we referred to the items required to obtain third-party certification in Japan. Methods: First, we conducted a semi-structured interview with canteens, at the workplaces regarding healthy meals. As a result, provision and promotion of healthy meals was insufficient in many canteens. In order to improve this situation, we have developed the action checklist by adding good practices obtained from the canteen survey to the items of third-party certification. Secondly, Using the action checklist, we proceeded with improvement activities for each workplace. Results: We have got the third-party certification at 9 canteens in 7 workplaces. The number of healthy meals eaten and the eating rate vary depending on the canteen, but the average is around 10%, and in best workplace it is around 20% per day on average. In one canteen, the eating rate of healthy meals increased from 6% to 11% after the certification was obtained. Conclusion: To improve the canteen for workers, which is used by many workers, it is expected that health literacy will be improved. In fact, it is shown that the health literacy of workers is gradually improving, although it is the effect of overall health measures. Methodology: Descriptive and exploratory study. Period from 2018 to 2020. Analysis of searches carried out on the internet with the word suicide and mortality due to Suicide in ICD 10: X60-X84. Use of Excel® spreadsheets and Pearson correlation. The following were analyzed: year of occurrence, place of occurrence. Results: In Brazil Mortality rates in the years 2018 (12,733), 2019 (13,522) and 2020 (12,751) were similar. The household was the main place of occurrence (62%). In an analysis with data search google trends, there was no strong correlation in the years 2018 (-0.22) and 2019 (0.15), but in 2020 the correlation found was: -0.42 Conclusion: Thus, we believe that a preventive approach based on analysis of data from internet trend surveys – google trend – can be used. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between performing work tasks in cold environments and the occurrence of a first stroke event. Methods: From the French population-based cohort CONSTANCES, we collected data from baseline questionnaires along with medical interviews on cardiovascular risk factors and reported exposure to cold temperatures (<10°C) at work. Exposures were categorized as rare (<2 h/day), often (≥2 and <4 h/day), and almost always (≥4 h/day). Incidence of stroke was retrieved from the French National Health database. Bivariate and multivariable logistic regression models were used to assess the association between working in cold environments and the incidence of stroke. Stratified analysis on stroke types were also conducted. Results: There were 160 782 participants and 224 strokes (168 ischemic, 76 hemorrhagic) included in our study. No significant increase of stroke was found for working in cold environments; the adjusted odds ratio (OR) for often or almost always exposed was 1.14 (95% CI, 0.46–2.82). Conclusions: This study did not reveal a significant excess risk of stroke for occupational exposures to low temperatures. Further studies are needed to better assess the effect of preventive measures and very low temperature on the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases. The illness of officers Voting Organizing Group (KPPS) officers during the general election were a matter of public concern. This study aims to a description of risk factors. Methods: The design of the study was cross-sectional involving 80 KPPS officers from three provincial election commissions. Data were collected by interviews of sick KPPS and healthy KPPS officers during the preparation for voting, during voting, and recapitulation. The dependent variable was health conditions. The questionnaire has been validated with loading factors and reliability are 0.4 and 0.904 respectively. Results: KPPS officers were over 30 years old (65, [81.25%]) with most of the education was low (61, [76.25]). The most history of illness was ulcer disease (17, [21.25%]). Most of the workstations were in tents (40 [50%]) and there were differences in getting detailed information between Healthy KPPS and sick KPPS officers (p=0.003). During the election, many KPPS officers sleep less than 6 hours (30–40%) and had long working hours up to 18 hours. Healthy KPPS did not work according to the guidelines. Sick KPPS officers also felt more pressured by the election process. Psychosocial factors obtained were miscommunication between Team, especially with Vice KPPS. Vice KPPS was less nurturing, less willing to listen, and imposing their will. Conclusion: The majority of KPPS officers were over 30 years and had low education. Risk factors during the election were heat stress, workload, long working hours, and weak leadership. This study aimed to investigate changes in the incidence of medically reported occupational inhalation accidents and their potential causes over time in the UK. Methods: Data on incident cases of occupational inhalation accidents reported to SWORD surveillance scheme between 1999 and 2018 (inclusive) were extracted and analysed in groups of four 5-year time periods. Descriptive analyses of causative exposure, occupation and industrial sectors were conducted and incidence rates were estimated. Results: A total of 172 cases were reported. The average annual incidence rate (1999–2018) was 0.9 cases/million employed, with estimates falling from 1.7/million employed in 1999–2003 to 0.5 in 2014–2018. Cases were reported most frequently from the public administration and defence sector (13%), followed by the medical sector (9%), with domestic cleaners (4%) and fire service officers (4%) the most frequently reported occupations. Certain historic causative exposures (e.g. smoke inhalation) were no longer reported by the end of the study period, while many known causes (e.g. cleaning agents) were persistently linked to reported cases over the study period. Conclusions: Whilst the incidence of inhalation accidents appears to have fallen, certain established causative exposures appear to be persistently linked to reported cases. Awareness of current causative exposures is necessary in order to define evidence-based interventions to reduce their occurrence. Salmon aquaculture is an important industry in Canada that reports high occupational injury rates linked to exposures to diverse hazards. Aquaculture reports antimicrobial use (AMU), yet AMR is not designated as a biological occupational hazard. Methods: Occupational claims data from Atlantic Canadian aquaculture were analyzed to describe injury characteristics. Trends in aquaculture AMU and relevant policy were reported to contextualize barriers that prevent surveillance for occupational exposures to AMR factors. Results: Injured workers most frequently reported injuries attributed to physical and ergonomic hazards leading to soft tissue damage and open and superficial wounds to the back, legs, and fingers. AMR designation as an occupational hazard is hindered at three distinct levels: i) Surveillance program for AMR emergence in aquaculture is absent. ii) Latent onset of symptoms linked to occupational AMR exposures mitigate against related compensation claims. iii) Data reporting gaps impede correlative analyses of AMU and clinical AMR. Conclusions: AMR surveillance requires an iterative and One Health approach. Currently, occupational claims data facilitate only retrospective analyses biased towards observable physical injuries with clear occupational origins. Surveillance requires a paradigm shift that promotes prospective analyses to guide health protective strategies. In 1936 medical services related to safety at Saudi Aramco commenced. This leads to a number of achievements both for the company and the country including: • 1947 Development of malaria surveillance program, by 1956 malaria was eradicated • 1950 Smallpox Eradication Program undertaken • 1955 Research Project on Trachoma with Harvard School of Public Health The Saudi Arabian Chapter of ICOH was established 55 years after the first Occupational Medicine Specialist arrived in the Kingdom in 1963. To mark this launch of the local chapter, a technical symposium entitled “Recognizing mental health concerns at the workplace” was organized. The chapter has conducted three technical symposiums and two half day workshops. The local chapter has been able to bring more than 100 professionals on one platform, developed an interactive website, provided a number of educational activities and focusing on sharing the local experience and international expertise on how to improve the health, safety and wellbeing of workers in the Middle East.
