<text>Childbirth education helps to deliver information regarding health care to pregnant women and
their families during the antenatal and postnatal periods. Culturally, Korea has a unique type of
childbirth education, termed taegyo, which helps in maternal health care and stimulates the cognitive development of the fetus in the womb [1]. In modern society, this tradition continues to be
taught in prenatal classes for pregnant women and their families, mainly at hospitals and public
health care centers. Prenatal classes play a role in encouraging maternal physical, psychological, and
social health through self-care during pregnancy. These classes deliver information on a wide-ranging and deep understanding of the birth process and readiness for the maternal role, and they play a
valuable role as a mode for evidence-based nursing care to be shared with pregnant women. In addition to learning about diet, nutrition, vaccination, exercise, rest, activity, the birth process, pain control during labor, breastfeeding, and practical approaches to daily activities, pregnant women gain
emotional benefits through communication between educators and pregnant women. Childbirth
education enhances parental attachment, motherhood, confidence, and childbearing efficacy, and it
relieves psychological distress and the postpartum blues [2].
Although birth education is important for pregnant women, the coronavirus disease 2019
(COVID-19) pandemic changed the social atmosphere and culture, especially in the field of
health-related education [3]. Face-to-face education was curtailed in Korea because of social distancing and quarantine. Birth education has also been limited in order to avoid personal contact in
the past 2 years since COVID-19. Pregnant women have lost educational opportunities to obtain
knowledge, have appropriate attitudes reinforced, and develop the necessary skills for healthy pregnancy and birth because many birth classes have been shut down. Even when a birth class is open,
only a limited number of pregnant women can participate in on-site education because of governmental quarantine rules. The strengthened social distancing regulations to prevent the spread of
COVID-19 permit private gatherings of only up to four people nationwide in Korea [4]. Gradually,
midwives, nursing educators, and medical staff have tried to provide remote birth education</text>

<text>Research that demonstrates high quality reporting is important to improve clinical nursing practice
and facilitate follow-up studies in various disciplines. Poor reporting is unethical [1,2], and such papers are often confusing, resulting in impractical, futile information that can even be detrimental to
patient care [1,3]. Therefore, quality journals are invested in publishing good papers with good reporting quality, often maintained effectively via a peer review system [3,4]. However, the effective
use of reporting guidelines is also considered a useful strategy to enhance the reporting quality of research published in academic journals [3,5].
The most frequently recommended and well-known reporting guidelines were developed by the
EQUATOR Network (https://www.equator-network.org/). EQUATOR is an acronym for Enhancing the QUAlity and Transparency Of health Research. As the name suggests, the EQUATOR
Network, an international organization, is a new initiative to persuade clear and transparent health
research reporting [2,6]. It aims to ensure accuracy, completion, and transparency in reporting
health research studies to promote functionality and replicability of research and to make health research credible and valuable by popularizing reporting guidelines for health research [6,7].
The Korean Journal of Women Health Nursing (KJWHN), as the official journal of the Korean Society of Women Health Nursing, is constantly striving to improve the journal quality by publishing
quality research reports. Not only is this beneficial for our readership, but this would also be one of
the strategies for the journal to be indexed in international journal databases, such as the Social Science Citation Index (SSCI). As one of the efforts to improve the quality of reporting of published
research, while adopting a double-blind peer review system comprising a professional reviewer pool,
KJWHN also recommends using the reporting guidelines of the EQUATOR Network in its author
guidelines [8]. In addition, the editorial board of KJWHN has published three articles analyzing adherence to reporting guidelines of research published in KJWHN and highlighted areas for reporting improvement [9-11]. KJWHN’s effort to adopt and inform the reporting guidelines of the
EQUATOR Network is advanced level compared to other journals in Korea</text>

<text>On October 29, 2022, KJWHN received notice of its release to PubMed Central (PMC) live site
three months after the interchange of the PMC Full-Participation Agreement on July 30, 2022 [2].
Therefore, it also became searchable in PubMed. While our September issue editorial projected that
KJWHN would likely be the first non-English journal among Korean health-related journals to
achieve PMC status, since its publication, the Journal of the Korean Society of Radiology (Taehan
Yongsang Uihakhoe Chi) was cataloged as PubMed journal in the National Library of Medicine 14
days earlier than KJWHN. Meanwhile, KJWHN is the first non-English, non-MEDLINE nursing
journal to be indexed in PMC and PubMed.
On December 5, 2022, we received official notice of being indexed in Emerging Sources Citation
Index (ESCI), marking a significant milestone for KJWHN. We are delighted that published papers
from 2020 (issue 1, volume 26) will be retroactively included in both PMC and Web of Science
Core Collection databases in Korean and/or English. Out of more than 20 nursing journals in Korea, KJWHN is the second journal published in both Korean and English to achieve triple crown
status in three databases, including PubMed, Web of Science Core Collection, and Scopus. The first
one is the Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing (eISSN: 2093-758X ).
Since being indexed in Scopus we have seen an increase in submissions: from 48 unsolicited manuscripts in 2021 to 63 in 2022. Now with triple crown status, I hope potential authors may consider
KJWHN, especially those from a wider range of countries. High-quality studies that fit our aims and
scope will be welcomed from authors over the world.
We have continued to publish English manuscripts at a steady rate, which will be meaningful for
international readers to access our published content. Our collaborative work with Statistics Korea
also continued in 2022, resulting in a statistics paper [3]</text>
