                <text>Bidirectional DC-DC converters with very low ripple contents in the input and output sides are desirable in many applications. This paper proposes a new family of bidirectional DC-DC converters with very low input and output ripples that is derived from the conventional Cuk DC-DC converter. At first, a new family of single-phase DC-DC converter is derived. Then, extension of this family into the multiphase ones is presented. Output voltage expressions of the proposed DC-DC converters are presented. It is found that the derived DC-DC converters have lower conduction losses than the conventional DC-DC converters. Expressions of input and output ripples of the proposed DC-DC converters are then also presented. Finally, some experimental results are included to show the basic performance of the proposed converters. Thus, the outcome of the proposed DC-DC converter can be achieved by using the duty ratio is half and the multiphase technique is upper-middle inductors. It given that the current and voltage ripples of proposed DC-DC converter is very low and almost zero. </text>

                <text>This paper measures end-to-end (e2e) throughput of power beacon-assisted multi-hop decode-and-forward (DF) relaying scheme adopting&#13;
non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and transmit antenna selection&#13;
(TAS)/selection combining (SC). Particularly, TAS/SC and NOMA are&#13;
adopted at each hop to relay different data of a source to multiple&#13;
destinations. Moreover, the transmitters including source and relays have to harvest wireless energy from radio frequency (RF) signals from a power beacon. We also propose a simple and efficient power allocation method for the signals transmitted at each hop. For performance measurement and comparison, we provide closed-form formulas of the e2e throughput over Rayleigh fading channel. We then verify our derivations by computer simulations as well as compare the e2e throughput performance between our scheme and the corresponding one that does not use NOMA. </text>

                <text>This paper presented a compressive sensing (CS) calibration technique that simultaneously measures all the element excitations of a 2×2 active phased antenna array (APAA) instantaneously. The power patterns of the rectangular 2×2 APAA element are synchronized to orthogonally cross multiplicative sub-array system applying compressive sensing in achieving an array thinning along two 1-D sub-arrays for a fixed steered beam radiation. The far field radiation pattern direction of the 2×2 APAA is examined considering the mutual effect, complex excitation of the amplitude and phase of the antenna elements placed on the x and y axes. The unwanted array excitation with errors are calibrated using minimization vector as a standard basic pursuit problem in compressive sensing technique for the 2×2 APAA calibration. The elements amplitude and phase shift variation are compared with reference state 0 in order to evaluate the faulty error array elements. The performance evaluation of this proposed technique is measured and demonstrated to validate the effectiveness of the proposed antenna calibration technique. </text>

                <text>Ku-band have a larger attenuation during heavy rain in the equatorial region. Despite that, Ku-band has been identified as a frequency band in&#13;
high-throughput satellite systems (HTS) for broadband satellite&#13;
communication. The available rain fade prediction models are still not able to accurately predict rain attenuation in the equatorial region. The models depend on the specific attenuation parameters produced based on the international telecommunication union radiocommunication sector (ITU-R) instead of the measured value. Direct measurement of specific attenuation is more accurate but difficult to obtain because the correlation of rainfall rate and satellite signal loss due to rain must be obtained simultaneously. This paper aims to derive new specific attenuation frequency-dependent coefficients for Ku-band using the semi-empirical method. The Malaysia East Asia Satellite 3 (MEASAT-3) satellite data was collected using a 13 m antenna located at Cyberjaya, Selangor while the rainfall data was collected by the nearby hydrological station. The specific attenuation was obtained from correlations of the direct measurement of rain attenuation and rainfall rate. The new frequency-dependent coefficients for Ku-band specific attenuation values are k = 4.6690 and α = 0.1941. The newly acquired specific attenuation coefficients have improved the rain attenuation model&#13;

                <text>Pervasive and ubiquitous computing has enabled people better integrate&#13;
physical things into the digital world. The internet of things (IoT) has been considerably more widely used in business and everyday life in the last decade. Innovative healthcare information and communication technologies are a vast field of research and applications that need IoT benefits, including speed, security, and low cost. The proposed modified advanced encryption standard (AES)-cipher block chaining (CBC)-based blockchain technology offers a shared key to devices that need to communicate directly with or with entities outside the smart healthcare network to give users greater control over transactions. The experiments are carried out using a Raspberry Pi 3, whereas two different sensors are employed in this case. Blockchain technology encrypts data between doctor and patient with varied user numbers. The results from experiments revealed that the proposed modified AES-CBC based blockchain technology could provide the IoT application with security services (confidentiality, integrity, and access control) with efficient execution time. </text>

                <text>The objective of this work is to take a step further in this direction by&#13;
incorporating voice control and artificial intelligence (AI) into internet of&#13;
things (IoT)-based smart home systems to create more efficient automated smart home systems. Accordingly, a home automation system proposal is presented, in which the related functions can be controlled by voice commands using an android or web application via a chat form. The user issues a voice command, which is deciphered by natural language processing (NLP). To accommodate the user’s request, the NLP classifies it into operation commands. Arduino and Raspberry Pi are used to translate the commands extracted from NLP into reality. Based on this, home applications can be controlled. Also, the utilities consumption could be calculated, saved, and paid on time. This is in addition to the introduction of a machine learning (ML)-based recommendation system for automated home appliance control. In this approach, the mobile or web application is considered as the central controller, deciding the appropriate actions to fulfill the user’s desires. The presented work has been put into practice and tested. It proved to be applicable, as well as having the potential for making home life more&#13;
comfortable, economic, and safe. </text>

                <text>Cloud computing and the low power wide area network (LPWAN) network represent the key infrastructures for developing intelligent solutions based on the internet of things (IoT). However, the diversity of use cases and deployment scenarios of IoT in the different domains makes optimizing IoT-based cloud solutions a major challenge. The cloud solution’s cost increases with the increase in central processing unit (CPU) resources and energy consumption. The optimal use of edge material resources in industrial solutions will reduce the consumption of resources and thus optimize cloud infrastructure costs in terms of resources and energy consumption. The article presents the network and application architecture of an IoT monitoring solution based on cloud services. Then, we study the integration of IoT services based on application placement strategies on the fog cloud compared to the traditional centralized cloud strategy. Simulations evaluate the scenarios with the iFogSim simulator and the analyzed results compare the traditional strategy with the cloud-fog. The results show that cost and energy consumption in the cloud can be significantly reduced by processing the application at the end devices level with respect to the&#13;
possible limit of CPU processing power for each IoT end device. Latency&#13;
and network usage respect quality of service constraints in cloud-fog&#13;
placement for this type of monitoring-oriented IoT application. </text>

                <text>In this paper, a novel multi-frequency microstrip antenna with&#13;
complementary ring slot resonator (CRSR) structure that satisfies Bluetooth, worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX), and wireless local area network (WLAN) applications is proposed. The conventional antenna consists of a circular microstrip patch at a resonance frequency band of 2.5 GHz. By loading two CRSR at the radiating element, three operating frequency bands 2.5 GHz, 3.6 GHz, and 5.2 GHz are achieved. The operational bands covered by the antenna are Bluetooth 2.5 GHz, WiMAX 3.6 GHz, and WLAN 5.2 GHz. The insertion of CRSR to patch antenna has made it possible to compact and simple design, and miniaturized antenna for cognitive radio. Moreover, the directivity of the proposed antenna is adequate with acceptable radiation properties and perfectly matches with the simulated and measured results. </text>

                <text>In this study, an end-to-end human iris recognition system is presented to automatically identify individuals for high level of security purposes.&#13;
The deep learning technology based new 2D convolutional neural network (CNN) model is introduced for extracting the features and classifying the iris patterns. Firstly, the iris dataset is collected, preprocessed and augmented. The dataset are expanded and enhanced using data augmentation, histogram equalization (HE) and contrast-limited adaptive histogram equalization (CLAHE) techniques. Secondly, the features of the iris patterns were extracted and classified using CNN. The structure of CNN comprises of convolutional layers and ReLu layers for extracting the features, pooling layers for reducing the parameters, fully connected layer and Softmax layer for classifying the extracted features into N classes. For the training process and updating the weights, the backpropagation algorithm and adaptive moment estimation Adam optimizer are used. The experimental results carried out based on a graphics processing unit (GPU) and using Matlab. The overall training accuracy of the introduced system was 95.33% with a&#13;
consumption time of 17.59 minutes for training set. While the testing&#13;
accuracy 100% with a consumption time of 12 seconds. The introduced iris recognition system has been successfully applied. </text>

                <text>Present-day advancements in embedded systems have uncovered a wide area of innovation in inexpensive supportive systems for the visually impaired. Right from the uncomplicated white cane up to the most exceptional electronic walking stick, many designs have been proposed aiming at assisting and protecting visually challenged persons. This paper aims at contributing to these assistive aids by designing a bamboo stick sensor-based unit with ultrasonic and water detection sensors which is robust, cheap, and easily operated for the deprived blind person. Thus, improving the usefulness of the current white stick to consolidate both above-knee and below-knee deterrent identifications. The developed bamboo stick simply operates using ultrasound sensors for sensing the impediments before contact and a water detection sensor for water detection on the pathway. It offers vibration and different sound feedbacks to the operator per the spot of the obstacle. The results obtained by trial from a volunteer who walked an obstructed path blindfolded were excellent. The results ensure quick detection, safety and enhance the speed of mobility of the user. The simulations performed were accurate and relevant to the ultimate goal of the paper. The electronic bamboo walking stick developed can be used to guide the visually impaired in an indoor or outdoor environment. </text>
