<text>Energy consumption by sector in Malaysia is rising significantly, especially for residential and commercial sectors, and is expected to continue to increase in the upcoming years. The existing power generated from a proton-exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) system may be insufficient to sustain peak load demands during peak periods in stationary residential applications. The presence of an ultra-capacitor (UC) bank would be beneficial as a support as it can supply a large burst of power. The integration of PEMFC and UC has the potential to provide an effective way to supply power demands, has better energy efficiency, and is also economically friendly. In this research, we demonstrate a proposed combined PEMFC and UC bank that operates in parallel. A novel design methodology and dynamic model for both PEMFC and UC systems as energy sources have been developed for stand-alone residential applications. The simulation results are shown in Matlab Simulink. These results are based on mathematical and dynamic models of the system being shown. </text>

<text>The development of mobile apps with augmented reality (AR) would
enhance the capability in visualizing the scene or environment. Any apps
supported by computer aided design versions with 3D models makes the
design more realistic, such as in the form of websites or mobile apps.
However, the current features for online platforms for shopping are quite limited and lack 3D visualization features. This paper presents the
development of a mobile application, pro-visualizer app called PRO-VAS,
that utilizes AR for scanning and visualizing the environment. PRO-VAS
acts as a product visualizer that applies visual simultaneous localization and mapping (VSLAM) for localization of the product in AR based systems. The main components of PRO-VAS are ARCore from Google for interactive purposes, and the depth mapping from red green blue depth (RGB-D) phone camera with point plane generator and markerless tracking method. The last component of the app is the set of objects from the unity store, which can be chosen in PRO-VAS for the scanned scene area. The app was tested in various environments involving different objects and has shown competitive results. In the future, more features and products can be added to the apps. </text>

<text>Sign language is the communication process of people with hearing
impairments. For hearing-impaired communication in Bangladesh and parts of India, Bangla sign language (BSL) is the standard. While Bangla is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, there is a scarcity of research in the field of BSL recognition. The few research works done so far focused on detecting BSL alphabets. To the best of our knowledge, no work on detecting BSL words has been conducted till now for the unavailability of BSL word dataset. In this research, a small static-gesture word dataset has been developed, and a deep learning-based method has been introduced that can detect BSL static-gesture words from images. The dataset, “BSLword contains 30 static-gesture BSL words with 1200 images for training. The training is done using a multi-layered convolutional neural network with the Adam optimizer. OpenCV is used for image processing and TensorFlow is used to build the deep learning models. This system can recognize BSL static-gesture words with 92.50% accuracy on the word dataset. </text>

<text>E-CityFarm is an electronic system that can control the parameters needed to grow fish and plants integratedly. It can control temperature, water acidity, and utilizing the neural network method able to count the number and length of fishes also their weight. The weight will be directly proportional to the need for feed. In E-CityFarm, various variables are processed by multitasking, therefore real time operating system (RTOS) is used. RTOS has several advantages in terms of: concurrency, pre-emption, capacity, flash size, synchronization tools, third party software, and convenience. RTOS is real time where in the execution process it will work in parallel for all existing processes according to the time specified. E-CityFarm implements RTOS to improve and maintain the quality of system measurement accuracy, which is expected to help users maintain product quality. In several experiments, the measurement results still have deviations compared to conventional measurements, deviations in measurements for: temperature 0.46%, light intensity 1.935%, 4.93% (3 levels) and weight control 1.995% (98.005% accuracy). Within 14 months the growth of fish and plants seemed to be very controlled, fish and plants grew well, thus E-CityFarm is a feasible system to be developed in areas that have limited land and water. </text>

<text>User interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design is fundamental to the stickiness of any application. Food delivery is no exception. With the food delivery business sector on the rise during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, it is necessary for any newcomers in the market to at least match the must-have feature lists of the major players. However, Robinhood, despite having a niche in societal responsibility, is still a food delivery app that is found to lack some of the features that, in the past few months, due to the fierce competition within the food delivery space, moved down from a delighter to a must-have. In this paper, we show, through iterations of qualitative interviews, the proposed solutions consisting of features and future roadmap along with the general context of why each implementation was selected in each sprint. Through all these experiments, we learned not to go against the natural reading pattern of reading from left to right, the z pattern in the visual hierarchy, the users’ familiarity with buttons placement due to loaded external factors, and how introducing too many new features may negatively impact the usability test score. </text>

<text>Classification becomes one of the important elements in the forward scatter radar (FSR) micro-sensors network. This classification performance is dependent on the target’s profile behaviour and the network’s surrounding; and one of the factors that cause the reduction of classification probability is the presence of ground clutter. As the volume of clutter increases, their masking effect becomes greater and may result in more significant errors in target classification. Hence, to reduce misclassification in the FSR sensor network, a new clutter reduction technique based on the ground clutter model is proposed. Simulated ground clutter is modeled based on the estimated signal to clutter ratio (SCR) of the received signal. The clutter effect is diminished by eliminating simulated like-clutter from the receiving signals. The result shows improvement in the classification accuracy, especially for the minimum value of the SCR and this new technique uses only one database which will shorten the processing time and reduce the overall database’s size. </text>

<text>This research is about the application of multi-threaded and trie data
structures to the support calculation problem in the Apriori algorithm.
The support calculation results can search the association rule for market basket analysis problems. The support calculation process is a bottleneck process and can cause delays in the following process. This work observed five multi-threaded models based on Flynn’s taxonomy, which are single process, multiple data (SPMD), multiple process, single data (MPSD), multiple process, multiple data (MPMD), double SPMD first variant, and double SPMD second variant to shorten the processing time of the support calculation. In addition to the processing time, this works also consider the time difference between each multi-threaded model when the number of item variants increases. The time obtained from the experiment shows that the multi-threaded model that applies a double SPMD variant structure can perform almost three times faster than the multi-threaded model that applies the SPMD structure, MPMD structure, and combination of MPMD and SPMD based on the time difference of 5-itemsets and 10-itemsets experimental result. </text>

<text>Semantic extraction for images is an urgent problem and is applied in many different semantic retrieval systems. In this paper, a semantic-based image retrieval (SBIR) system is proposed based on the combination of growth partitioning tree (GP-Tree), which was built in the authors’ previous work with a self-organizing map (SOM) network and neighbor graph (called SgGP-Tree) to improve accuracy. For each query image, a similar set of images is retrieved on the SgGP-Tree, and a set of visual words is extracted relying on the classes obtained from mask region-based convolutional neural networks (R-CNN), as the basis for querying semantic of input images on ontology by simple protocol and resource description framework query language (SPARQL) query. The experiment was performed on image datasets, such as ImageCLEF and MS-COCO, with precision values of 0.898453 and 0.875467, respectively. These results are compared with related works on the same image dataset, showing the effectiveness of the methods proposed. </text>

<text>This research paper investigates the novel triple remote phosphor layer for improving the remote phosphor’s angular chroma uniformity (ACU) of down-light lamps by using remote micro-patterned phosphor layers (RMPP). In addition, introducing the triple-layer (TL) RMPP is introduced to offer the potential approach to this objective. This analysis also measures the optical efficiency of the layers and the angle distribution of angular correlated color temperature (ACCT). Drawing a comparison between the traditional dual-layer (DL) RMPP and the proposed TL is furthermore critical to this study. According to the findings, the triple-layer phosphor configuration can achieve greater hue consistency while having a correlating colour temperature (CCT) variance merely measured at 441 K. Results in the single RMPP layer are 1390 K of the remote phosphor (RP) sheet setting and 556 K for the ACCT deviation. The recreation employing finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) as well as the approach of ray-tracing ensures an increase in angular color uniformity (ACU). The structure of DL and TL RMPPs results in a 6.68 % and 4.69 % gain in luminous efficiency, respectively, with the standard RMPP layer at a currently driving of 350 mA. The micro-patterned layer’s scattering characteristic and mixing effect may account for the increased ACU and luminous efficiency. </text>

<text>The light quality of white-light-emitting diodes (WLEDs), an essential
element for the improvement of WLEDs performance, can now be estimated by the angular color uniformity (ACU). In this study, a single
micro-patterned layer is used to compare the variations between the
traditional remote phosphor (RP) layer and the remote phosphor layer (single remote micro-patterned phosphor film (RMPP) layer). Furthermore, we investigate the application of a novel triple remote phosphor layer to improve the ACU in RP down-light lamps. Besides, the optical efficiency of the layers as well as the distribution for the angular correlated color temperature (ACCT) were also measured experimentally. According to the findings, the dual-RMPP-layer structure can achieve better chromatic uniformity with just 441 K of correlated color temperature (CCT) variance. Meanwhile, the single RMPP layer shows an ACCT deviation of 556 K and RP film structure of 1390 K. The simulation incorporating e finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) as well as the approach of ray-tracing ensures an increase in ACU. Furthermore, compare to the traditional RP layer, the single and dual RMPP layers configuration result in respective luminous efficiency ameliorations of 6.68% and 4.69%. The scattering principle and combining influence from the micro-molded layer may explain the
enhancement in ACU as well as lumen. </text>
