connection. This project tested part of these claims by investigating if algorithmic personalization predicted social connectedness on TikTok, where&#13;
connecting with identity-relevant media content is prioritized over interpersonal interaction. Drawing from the algorithm responsiveness process, we&#13;

identified perceived algorithm responsiveness (PAR) and perceived algorithm insensitivity (PAI) as perceptual mechanisms of how algorithmic person-&#13;
alization relates to social connectedness. In two preregistered studies, an online survey and a 2-week daily diary survey, results suggested that the&#13;
&#13;
TikTok For You algorithm curating frequent and positively valenced identity-relevant content was associated with higher PAR and less PAI. In turn,&#13;
&#13;
higher levels of PAR predicted more social connectedness, but PAI did not. These findings highlight the sociotechnical dynamics of algorithms, sug-&#13;
gesting human–algorithm interaction predicted social connectedness not only an algorithm’s code.</text>

cial interactions remain underexplored. Through computational analysis of a multimodal dataset with over 35,000 screenshots and posts from r/&#13;

replika, we identified seven prevalent types of human–AI social interactions: intimate behavior, mundane interaction, self-disclosure, play and&#13;
fantasy, customization, transgression, and communication breakdown, and examined their associations with six basic human emotions. Our&#13;
findings suggest the paradox of emotional connection with AI, indicated by the bittersweet emotion in intimate encounters with AI chatbots,&#13;
and the elevated fear in uncanny valley moments when AI exhibits semblances of mind in deep self-disclosure. Customization characterizes the&#13;
distinctiveness of AI companionship, positively elevating user experiences, whereas transgression and communication breakdown elicit fear&#13;
or sadness.</text>

this article asks what such skills look like and how gig workers translate them into opportunities. Drawing on semi-structured interviews with&#13;
21 U.S. online freelancers, I identify moments in which participants approach the gig platform differently because of their digital skills. I find that&#13;

digital skills enable online freelancers to (1) optimize their use of platform tools, (2) construct alternative pathways when existing tools malfunc-&#13;
tion, and (3) imagine and blaze new paths that go beyond the platform’s current functionality. These findings suggest that, in the volatile context&#13;

of gig platforms, digital skills entail not only the ability to leverage platform tools as designed but also the capacity to creatively navigate situa-&#13;

their digital media use have been assessed mostly cross-sectionally without accounting for various disconnection practices across everyday sit-&#13;
uations. This study focuses on three motivations to disconnect that can vary between situations: to (a) avoid distractions, (b) improve well-&#13;
being, and (c) be more present. A 14-day experience sampling study with 230 young adults (Mage 1⁄4 25.31, SD 1⁄4 4.50) yielded 7,360 situations&#13;
&#13;
of disconnective behavior. Multilevel regression analyses show that motivations to avoid distractions and to be more present were relevant for&#13;
&#13;
disconnection on the situational level. However, a person’s average level of these motivations did not predict disconnective behavior. The well-&#13;
being motivation was not associated with disconnection either between or within participants. Additional analyses explore variations across&#13;
&#13;
time and different levels of digital disconnection.</text>

                <text>In an ambient news environment, people often believe that they can be well-informed without actively seeking news, resulting in the “news-&#13;
finds-me” (NFM) perception. Leveraging a two-wave panel survey in China (W1 N 1⁄4 1,465; W2 N 1⁄4 1,015), we examined the impact of the NFM&#13;
&#13;
perception on climate change knowledge. Findings showed that NFM did not influence climate change knowledge, while algorithmic news atti-&#13;
tude (ANA) played a mediating role. Specifically, NFM was positively associated with ANA, which in turn facilitated knowledge. Furthermore,&#13;
&#13;
this relationship was moderated by discussion network heterogeneity. The positive effect of ANA and the positive indirect effect of NFM on cli-&#13;
mate change knowledge were stronger among those with a more heterogeneous discussion network. Implications are discussed.</text>

                <text>Informal interactions are vital in daily workplace communication, shaping performance, well-being, collaboration, and overall organizational&#13;
functioning. However, as the ongoing trends of remote and hybrid work present significant changes and challenges to these interactions,&#13;
supporting remote informal communication (RIC) becomes urgent. To address this pressing issue, we adopt a socio-technical systems&#13;
perspective to gain in-depth insights into the enabling and constraining factors related to RIC. Our findings of semi-structured interviews with&#13;
working adults (N1⁄433) reveal important changes and challenges related to informal communication in the remote work context. We identify&#13;
eleven interrelated socio-contextual, intrapersonal, and technological factors, culminating in a comprehensive conceptual framework of RIC.&#13;
Based on our findings, we provide practical recommendations to effectively facilitate RIC in organizations and discuss future research avenues&#13;
for understanding effective RIC in organizations.</text>

                <text>The spread of multimodal coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) misinformation on social media poses considerable public health risks. Yet lim-&#13;
ited research has addressed the efficacy of citizen-contributed, multimodal debunking messages, especially the roles of audiovisual structural&#13;
&#13;
features. In a between-subject online experiment, we assessed the impacts of misleading TikTok videos promoting the false claim that COVID-&#13;
19 vaccines cause infertility and compared the effectiveness of debunking videos from medical experts vs. laypeople. We independently varied&#13;
&#13;
the presence of background music. Results showed that while misleading TikTok videos increased misperceptions, most debunking videos ef-&#13;
fectively countered such misinformation. Notably, compared with laypeople’s testimonial corrections, expert didactic videos benefited more&#13;
&#13;
from incorporating high-tempo background music, primarily through the suppression of counterarguing rather than through enhanced encoding.&#13;
&#13;
These findings underscore the importance to consider audiovisual structural features, such as background music, as well as the cognitive path-&#13;
way through distracted counterarguing, in future research on multimodal misinformation and correction.</text>
