                <text>Rice cultivation monitoring is crucial for Indonesia, where paddy field areas declined&#13;
by 2.45% according to the Central Bureau of Statistics due to land function&#13;
changes and shifting crop preferences. Regular monitoring of paddy field&#13;
distribution is essential for understanding agricultural land utilization by farmers&#13;
and landowners. Satellite imagery has become increasingly common for agricultural&#13;
land observation, but traditional neural networks alone provide insufficient&#13;
segmentation accuracy. This study proposes an enhanced deep learning architecture&#13;
combining residual network (ResNet)-DeepLabV3+ with coordinate attention&#13;
(CA) and spatial group-wise enhancement (SGE) modules. The attention&#13;
mechanisms establish direct connections between context vectors and inputs,&#13;
enabling the model to prioritize relevant spatial and spectral features for precise&#13;
paddy field identification. The CA module enhances spectral feature discrimination,&#13;
whereas the SGE improves spatial characteristic representation. The&#13;
experimental results demonstrate superior performance over the baseline methods,&#13;
achieving intersection over union (IoU) of 0.85, dice coefficient of 0.89,&#13;
and accuracy of 0.95. The proposed mixed attention mechanism significantly&#13;
improves the accuracy and efficiency of automatic crop area identification from&#13;
satellite imagery.</text>

                <text>Visible light communication (VLC) offers high-speed wireless communication using the visible light spectrum. Achieving high spectral efficiency while maintaining a low bit error rate (BER) remains a challenge. This paper explores the use of quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) combined with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) to address these challenges. Matrix laboratory (MATLAB) simulations show that QAM-OFDM achieves a BER of 0.001 at comparable signal-to-noise ratios (SNR), outperforming traditional hermitian symmetry (HS), complex signal mapping (CSM), and quad-light emitting diode (LED) complex modulation (QCM) techniques. Unlike CSM, and QCM, which increase complexity, and BER, QAM-OFDM efficiently utilizes available bandwidth, reducing errors, and enhancing spectral efficiency. The study concludes, that QAM-OFDM happens to be the optimal solution for the future VLC systems, offering better performance within both efficiency, and reliability.</text>

                <text>This article presents the implementation of a two-axis solar tracking system and its impacts to increase the performance of the photovoltaic system in northern Algeria. The system enhances the efficiency of solar systems by optimizing their exposure to sunlight making the sunbeam perpendicular to solar panel. The main objective of the study is to develop a technically proficient and economically viable solution to increase solar energy production. The design relies on integrating light sensors and motors controlled by an Arduino board, enabling automatic adjustment of solar panel positions. This approach offers dynamic and precise orientation, based on light dependent resistor (LDR) sensor design and threshold value, resulting in a significant increase in energy output. The results show that the dual-axis solar tracking system can capture 60.64% more solar energy, taking into account the power consumption of the two electric actuators. The findings of this study will positively influence the promotion of clean and sustainable energy sources while providing a practical solution for more efficient utilization of solar energy in Algeria.</text>

                <text>Speech signal analysis aims to identify patterns within data to develop effective&#13;
recognition algorithms. This process primarily utilizes feature extraction&#13;
techniques such as linear predictive coding (LPC), linear predictive cepstral coefficients&#13;
(LPCCs), and Mel-frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCCs). These&#13;
features are crucial for constructing recognition algorithms that leverage both&#13;
statistical and deep learning methods. While deep learning models require extensive&#13;
datasets, they often prove unsuitable for low-resource languages. The&#13;
Hidden Markov model (HMM) is the most widely adopted statistical framework&#13;
in speech processing. However, HMMs are characterized by state-dependent&#13;
models, where each state interacts only with its neighboring states. This limitation&#13;
restricts HMMs from capturing long-term signal properties, highlighting the&#13;
need for addressing these constraints at the feature extraction stage. Most feature&#13;
extraction methods rely on short-term signal processing, which further limits&#13;
the comprehension of speech utterances. To overcome these limitations, alternative&#13;
methods are necessary to capture more comprehensive patterns. This paper&#13;
presents a graph-based approach for analyzing speech trajectories and their&#13;
temporal properties, which are subsequently validated using HMMs in speech&#13;
recognition tasks. Graph-based representations on a low-resource Telugu dataset&#13;
improve recognition accuracy by 13% while reducing processing time compared&#13;
to traditional LPC.</text>

The system combines Hyperledger fabric, a permissioned blockchain that provides identity management and fine-grained access control, with the InterPlanetary file system (IPFS), a decentralized content-addressed store for large artifacts such as inspection images and portable document format (PDF) forms. Smart contracts encode inspection rules and approvals, which yield tamper-evident records, faster retrieval of histories, and uniform enforcement across centers. A mathematical model based on the M/M/1 queueing system, combined with a cost-benefit analysis, supports empirical findings: the total inspection cycle time decreases by approximately 30 percent, the average waiting time declines by about 20 to 30 percent, and annual operational savings reach approximately USD 800,000. These gains enhance auditability and transparency, which contribute to road safety outcomes by reducing opportunities for tampering and error. The design includes offline capture with later synchronization, which suits centers with intermittent connectivity. The approach is transferable to adjacent public services, for example, licensing, fine collection, and selected registries.</text>

                <text>Pathogens are organisms that cause disease in plants. In the case of rice, these pathogens can include fungi, bacteria, nematodes, protozoa, and viruses. This study aims to investigate rice plant diseases using a hybrid system that employs the visual geometry group-16 (VGG-16) architecture and computer vision techniques, alongside various optimization algorithms and hyperparameters. We utilize the convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture of VGG-16 for feature extraction, implementing a process known as transfer learning. Additionally, this research compares different optimization algorithms with the VGG-16 model to identify the most effective optimization for the CNN architecture applied to the tested dataset. The main contribution of this study is the development of a model for identifying rice plant diseases based on data collected using VGG-16 for feature extraction and neural networks for classification with specific parameters. Our findings indicate that the best optimization algorithm is stochastic gradient descent (SGD) with momentum, achieving training and validation loss results of 0.173 and 0.168, respectively. Furthermore, the training and validation accuracies were 0.95 and 0.957. The model’s performance metrics include an accuracy of 95.75, precision of 95.75, recall of 95.75, and an F1-score of 95.73.</text>

                <text>The study of lightning effects on distribution lines is of vital importance for the reliability and safety of electrical systems, as lightning is one of the main causes of failures. The purpose of this study is to perform a bibliometric analysis to evaluate academic productivity trends and research trajectories in this field. The methodology was based on a comprehensive search of the Scopus database, from which a total of 545 articles published between 1932 and 2024 were analyzed. For the analysis, the VOSviewer tool and the Bibliometrix library in R were used. The results reveal a constant increase in productivity since the 1970s, with Japan and China emerging as the most prolific countries. The research has evolved from early theoretical and experimental studies toward the use of advanced computational models and, more recently, the application of machine learning techniques for fault detection. In conclusion, the findings of this study provide a consolidated view of the field, which is fundamental for engineers to be able to design more robust protection systems and to guide future research toward model validation and the integration of renewable energy technologies.</text>

                <text>Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) comprise large numbers of sensor nodes that&#13;
are highly constrained by limited battery power, making energy-efficient routing&#13;
essential for sustaining network lifetime and service quality. Among existing&#13;
solutions, the general self-organized tree-based energy balancing (GSTEB) protocol&#13;
with clustering has been widely adopted for energy-aware communication.&#13;
However, GSTEB and its clustered variant often suffer from energy imbalance,&#13;
high packet loss, and reduced quality of service (QoS) due to excessive load&#13;
on cluster heads (CHs). To address these challenges, this paper introduces an&#13;
enhanced routing framework that integrates firefly optimization with clustered&#13;
GSTEB (CGSTEB) and introduces subordinate energy alert gateways (SEAGs).&#13;
The firefly algorithm is applied to optimize CH selection through a fitness function&#13;
that balances residual energy and node proximity, ensuring efficient cluster&#13;
formation and adaptive load distribution. Meanwhile, SEAGs establish a twohop&#13;
communication model between CHs and the base station (BS), reducing CH&#13;
energy consumption and preventing premature node failures. Simulation experiments&#13;
conducted in NS2 demonstrate that the proposed firefly-CGSTEB with&#13;
SEAG significantly improves QoS metrics, including network lifetime, energy&#13;
utilization, throughput, and packet loss rate, compared with conventional CGSTEB.&#13;
These results confirm the effectiveness of combining metaheuristic optimization&#13;
with gateway-assisted routing for resilient and energy-efficient WSNs.</text>

                <text>Owing to the demand for frequency agility, a switchable ultra-wideband (UWB) hexagonal antenna was developed in this study. The proposed antenna features two notch filters introduced by two U-shaped slots on the patch to reduce interference from other wireless networks by rejecting the unique frequency bands. In addition, the proposed antenna comprises a hexagonal radiator attached to a feeding 50 Ω standard microstrip line. To fabricate the antenna prototype, a substrate (Rogers RT/Duroid 5880) with loss tangent and relative permittivity values of 0.0009, and 2.2, respectively, was used. Frequency and pattern reconfigurability were achieved by changing the electrical equivalent circuit of two positive-intrinsic-negative (PIN) diodes sandwiched within two U-shaped slots. The evaluation confirmed that the antenna operated within the D1&amp;D2-ON configuration across the entire UWB range while, effectively filtering the wireless body area network (WBAN) (6.10–6.56 GHz) and radar application (9.16–10.79 GHz) bands when both diodes were OFF. The radiation efficiency and gain reached values of 92.9 % and 7.5 dB, respectively. The proposed design offers a robust performance with enhanced interference rejection. This makes it suitable for modern cognitive radio systems.</text>

                <text>The classification of coffee bean roast levels using Agtron standards has evolved from traditional subjective methods to technology-driven approaches employing advanced artificial intelligence. Recent advancements in computer vision have demonstrated the capability of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) in providing objective and consistent roast level classification compared to human visual assessment, which is prone to variability and subjectivity. This research presents a performance analysis of five CNN architectures (AlexNet, ResNet, MobileNet, VGGNet, and DenseNet) for classifying coffee beans into eight distinct Agtron roast levels. The comprehensive methodology encompasses four phases: i) data acquisition, ii) image preprocessing, iii) model training and validation, and iv) evaluation metric. During training-validation, DenseNet outperformed other models, achieving 99.702% training accuracy and 77.68% validation accuracy. In the testing evaluation, DenseNet also led with an average testing accuracy of 93.8%, followed by ResNet at 92.6%, VGGNet and AlexNet both at 92.4%, and MobileNet at 89.7%. The results show that the DenseNet shows promise in classifying Agtron coffee-bean roast classification.</text>
