TERAPI MADU JAHE UNTUK MEREDAKAN BATUK PADA ANAK DENGAN BRONCHITIS: CASE REPORT
Subject
pediatric nursing care; bronchitis; cough; dyspnea; ginger honey therapy
Description
Introduction: Bronchitis in children can have a significant impact on the child's health and quality
of life. Coughing due to bronchitis is often persistent and paroxysmal, so it can interfere with a
child's daily activities, including sleep, concentration on studies, and social interactions. Based
on an annual report at a private hospital in Purwokerto, there were 437 pediatric patients with
bronchitis from outpatient and inpatient settings in 2023. Ginger honey therapy is a potential non-
pharmacological treatment alternative to relieve bronchitis symptoms in children. Method: Case
report on the management of nursing care using ginger honey therapy to relieve coughs in
children with bronchitis. Results and Discussion: The results of the study found symptoms of
bronchitis including coughing, increased respiratory frequency, decreased oxygen saturation,
sleep disturbances, and impaired nutritional intake. The intervention provided in this study
focused on managing the patient's airway clearance through the provision of ginger honey
therapy. The results obtained were that through giving ginger honey therapy the child's breathing
frequency decreased, oxygen saturation increased, and coughing conditions were reduced.
Conclusions and suggestions: Ginger honey therapy can be used as an alternative non-
pharmacological management for children with bronchitis
