Description
Purpose of this literature review writing is to analyze factors that influence foot care behavior of elderly with diabetes mellitus. Method that was used in gathering article was using several electronic databases including PubMed, Proquest, Ebsco Host, Clinical key Nursing and Cochrane, reference sources were taken manually, with limitations on articles published from 2010 - 2020, with relevant keywords. Results obtained were 6 articles that have been adjusted to the inclusion
criteria of 4 articles were cross-sectional research, 1 articles were descriptive cross-sectional research and 1 articles were quasi eksperiment. This study stated several factors that can cause or trigger foot care behavior in elderly with diabetes mellitus, namely gender, knowledge, education, illness perception, functional capacity, control metabolic, social support and self efficacy. Conclusion: Diabetic foot ulcer is a problem that can be experienced by elderly people who are
experiencing diabetes mellitus, understanding the risk factors to preventing these complications and having the ability to manage complications outside of the clinical encounter is an important part of a foot care behavior. It can occur due to several factors that need to be detected early to get proper treatment before diabetic foot injuries occur. The findings of this review suggest that foot care behavior are affected by a wide range of personal and environmental factors, which allow health care providers to develop theory-based strategies to improve foot care behavior in this population.
