Forensik komputer adalah salah satu ilmu yang berkaitan langsung dengan investigasi bukti legal yang ditemukan pada komputer atau media penyimpanan digital lainnya. Dalam forensik komputer pengumpulan, analisis dan penyajian file computer sebagai bukti digital sangatlah penting. Namun, data atau bukti legal tersebut dapat disembunyikan di dalam file dan tidak bisa dibaca menggunakan DOS/Windows File Manager biasa. Oleh karena itu diperlukan metode analisis data yang mendukung proses forensik komputer. Salah satu metode analisis tersebut adalah file signature analysis. File signature analysis adalah proses dimana file header dan ekstensinya dibandingkan dengan database header dan ekstensi file yang diketahui dalam upaya memverifikasi semua file di media penyimpanan dan menemukan file yang mungkin disembunyikan. Pada paper ini diperlihatkan simulasi bagaimana cara pemulihan file atau informasi tertentu yang mungkin telah dilakukan oleh tersangka untuk dengan sengaja menghapus, menyembunyikan dan/atau mengubah data pada media penyimpanan tersebut. Hasil dari investigasi ini adalah ditemukannya 3 jenis file berbeda yang dengan sengaja disembunyikan oleh tersangka. Metode dan penyelesaian akan dijelaskan secara rinci dalam paper ini dan dibahas
Computer forensics is one of the sciences that is directly related to the investigation of legal evidence found on computers or other digital storage media. In the collection of computer collection, analysis and presentation of computer files as digital evidence is important. However, the data or legal evidence can be found in the file and cannot be read using a regular DOS/Windows File Manager. Therefore, data analysis methods are needed that support the computer forensics process. One such analysis method is signature file analysis. File signature analysis is the process by which header files and their extensions are compared with a database of known headers and file extensions in an attempt to verify all files on the storage medium and find files that may be similar. This paper shows a simulation of how to recover certain files or information that may be done by the suspect by deliberately hiding and/or changing the data on the storage media. The result of this investigation was the discovery of 3 different types of files that were deliberately found by the suspect. The methods and solutions will be described in detail in this paper and discussed.
