Description

Stroke is a non-communicable disease that can be life-threatening due to blockages or clots
in blood vessels, which obstruct blood supply to parts of the brain. Non-communicable
diseases (NCDs) cause approximately 71% or 41 million deaths annually. The rise in NCD
prevalence in stroke is associated with unhealthy lifestyles, necessitating the adoption of
healthy lifestyles through the CERDIK approach to reduce stroke risk. The objective of this
study was to determine the relationship between the healthy lifestyle approach known as
CERDIK and the risk of stroke in the community at the Karawang Health Center. This study
employed a quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach. The study
population consisted of the entire community at the Karawang Health Center, with a sample
size of 47 respondents selected using non-probability sampling, specifically accidental
sampling. The statistical test used was the Independent T-test. The results of the study
showed a significant relationship between the healthy lifestyle pattern CERDIK and the
risk of stroke in the community, with a p-value of 0.021 ≤ α (0.05). It is hoped that future
researchers can expand the population and increase the sample size, as well as use other
variables or different research methods.
