Description
Hypertension is an increase in systolic blood pressure of more than equal to 140 mmHg and diastolic
blood pressure of more than equal to 90 mmHg. The aim of the research was to determine the description
of eating patterns, smoking habits and drinking coffee in hypertensive patients in the Pacing Community
Health Center area. Sampling was taken using a purposive sampling technique with 136 accidental
respondents. The results of this study were obtained from 9 people with severe hypertension whose diet
was at risk for 8 people (88.9%). Then the highest risk diet is at the level of mild hypertension, there are
48 people (57.8), decreasing at the level of moderate hypertension, there are 18 people (40.9), decreasing
sharply at the level of severe hypertension, there are 8 people (88.9%). Of the 9 people with severe
hypertension, none of them smoked heavily, 0 people (0.0%). Then there were 33 people who did not
smoke (39.8%) with mild hypertension; Furthermore, the pattern of heavy smoking was highest at the
level of mild hypertension, there were 7 people (8.4%), decreased at the level of moderate hypertension,
there were 5 people (11.4%) and decreased sharply at the level of severe hypertension, there were 0
people (0.0%). Meanwhile, the highest smoking pattern was at the level of mild hypertension, there were
33 people (39.8%), it decreased at the level of moderate hypertension, there were 26 people (59.1%) and
it decreased sharply at the level of severe hypertension, there were 4 people (44.4%). Of the 9 people with
severe hypertension, 0 people no longer drink coffee (0.0%). Then, of the 83 people with mild
hypertension, 11 people (13.3%) did not drink coffee; Furthermore, the highest number of moderate
coffee drinkers with mild hypertension were 22 people (26.5%); decreased at the level of moderate
hypertension in 20 people (45.5%) and decreased sharply in the level of severe hypertension in 4 people
(44.4%). It is hoped that the results of this research can reduce the risk of hypertension by maintaining
diet, coffee drinking patterns and also smoking.
