Description
Background: Diarrheal disease is a global problem throughout the world and is both endemic and
epidemic. One of the factors that influence the occurrence of diarrhea is cage sanitation. In Kalakijo
Hamlet, Guwosari, Pajangan, and Bantul, as many as 42 people manage the cage with the distance
between the cage and the house less than 5 meters. The behavior of the cage manager's hand washing
is still not appropriate even though the socialization has been given by the Puskesmas. Objective: The
purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the sanitary condition of the cage and the
behavior of preventing diarrheal disease in Kalakijo Hamlet, Guwosari, Pajangan, and Bantul.
Method: The research design uses quantitative correlation with a cross-sectional approach. The
research population is the entire family that has livestock pens with a total sampling technique with a
total of 42 respondents with a measuring tool in the form of a questionnaire. Finding: The results of the
chi-square test obtained a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05), so there was a significant relationship between the
sanitation conditions of the cage and the behavior of preventing diarrheal disease of the cage manager.
The contingency coefficient value is 0.665 which means it has a strong close relationship. Conclusion:
There is no relationship between the sanitary condition of the cage and the behavior of preventing
diarrheal disease. Suggestion: It is hoped that the next researcher is to examine the factors that
influence diarrhea prevention behavior in people who have livestock pens.
