Description
The postpartum period (Post Partum) is the period that begins after the birth of the placenta and ends
when the uterus returns to its normal state before pregnancy, which lasts for 6 weeks or 42 days.
Postpartum mothers can experience stress for several reasons, one of which is a lack of sufficient
preparation or experience, triggering an increase in the hormone cortisol and a decrease in the
hormone oxytocin which makes the mother unable to breastfeed her child enough. The intervention
carried out was oxytocin massage. This phenomenon motivated writer to conduct research related to
the application of oxytocin massage to the smooth flow of breast milk with the problem of ineffective
breastfeeding nursing in post partum mothers. This case study aims to implement oxytocin massage
nursing care for the problem of ineffective breastfeeding nursing in post partum patients. The method
in this case use a cause report. The subjects used were patients with ineffective breastfeeding problem
post partum using oxytocin massage intervention. Breast milk can come out in both of the mother’s but
it appears that more milk comes out in the right side of the breast. The actual outcome that has been
achieved from the intervention carried out is that breast milk can come out. Attention for midwives and
nurses to carry out oxytocin massage on post partum patients who have ineffective breastfeeding
problems so that it can provide benefits for patients being treated to overcome these problems.
