Introduction: Patients depend on long-term hemodialysis therapy and restriction of fluid intake so that they often
lose their enthusiasm for life and affect their quality of life. Phenomenon at the research site, there are still many
patients who say that they are reluctant to participate in social activities because they are tired, do not want to
bother others, experience physical changes, social, environmental and psychological changes and find it difficult
to accept their disease conditions, fear death, anxiety, easily give up on disease. and do not perform routine
maintenance. Objective: To determine the relationship between self-compassion and quality of life of hemodialysis
patients. Methods: This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional correlation design. The sampling
technique used purposive sampling with a total sample of 85 patients. Data analysis using analysis univariate
and bivariate with spearman rank. Results: The results showed that most of the self-compassion was in the
moderate category as many as 71.8% of respondents and most of the quality of life was in the good category as
many as 72.9% of respondents with a p value of 0.000 (<0.05)
Conclusion: There is the relationship of self-compassion with the quality of life of hemodialysis patients.
Suggestion: For Researchers Furthermore, it is recommended to conduct research with qualitative methods so
that they can express in depth about self-compassion in helping to overcome quality of life problems from the
patient's point of view.
