Description
Background: Every time a surgical procedure is carried out, anesthesia must be carried out, whether
general or regional anesthesia, without prior anesthesia it is impossible to carry out surgery.
Recovering from general anesthesia is a body condition where neuromuscular conduction, airway
protective reflexes and consciousness have returned after the administration of anesthetic drugs has
stopped and the surgical process has been completed. One therapy that can be done is foot massage
which functions to speed up the recovery time of consciousness which is delayed after anesthesia.
Objective: To determine the effect of foot massage on speeding up recovery time in laparotomy patients
under general anesthesia. Case Management: Pain in the entire abdominal area since two weeks ago,
unable to defecate, nausea and vomiting. Ultrasound examination results showed obstructive ileus. The
patient will undergo a foot massage intervention to speed up the recovery time after laparotomy surgery
with general anesthesia. Discussion: Post-operatively, a diagnosis of the risk of ineffective cerebral
perfusion was found to be related to the effects of pharmacological agents. The intervention given to the
patient was to provide foot massage therapy which aimed to speed up the recovery time for
consciousness. Patients can recover consciousness quickly after being given foot massage therapy using
the foot massage SOP to speed up the time to recover consciousness. The result is that patients can
recover consciousness in less than 30 minutes. Conclusion: Foot massage therapy has been proven to
be effective in speeding up the time to recover consciousness in patients after laparotomy surgery under
general anesthesia.
