Non haemorrhagic stroke, pressure sores, olive oil
Description
Background: Stroke is a serious medical condition and can cause impaired mobility and a high risk
of pressure sores. Prevention of pressure sores is an important focus in the care of non-hemorrhagic
stroke patients. One intervention that can be done is the use of olive oil to help maintain skin
moisture and prevent pressure damage. Through this study, it is hoped that alternative nursing
interventions can be found that are more natural and effective in maintaining the skin health of
patients at risk of pressure sores. Main Symptoms: Weakness in the left arm and leg, accompanied
by headache, slurred speech, muscle strength 5/5 in the right extremity and 2/2 in the left extremity.
Norton scale showed a score of 11. Methods: This type of final scientific work is descriptive
qualitative with a case study design. The population was non haemorrhagic stroke patients with
pressure sore prevention. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a sample size of one
person. The main focus in this intervention is the prevention of pressure sores through the provision
of natural moisturizers in the form of olive oil. Results: After implementing the intervention for 5x24
hours, the patient showed positive results. The patient's skin remained intact with no signs of redness
or pressure sores, and there were no complications related to the skin condition. Conclusion:
Routine use of olive oil in patients can reduce the incidence of pressure sores in non haemorrhagic
stroke patients.
