Aedes sp; Extract; Neem Leaf; Larvae; Mortality

Description

Aedes sp is vector pf Dengue Hemorrhagic Disease (DHF) that can be control using using natural ingredients from neem (Azadirachta indica) as a mosquito repellent for Aedes sp. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of neem leaf extract at a dose of 50 g/1000 ml, 70 g/1000 ml and 90 g/1000 ml on the mortality of Aedes sp. This experimental research was conducted in the treatment group and the control group. The research variables were the effectiveness of neem leaf extract (50gr/1000ml, 70gr/1000ml, 90gr/1000ml water) and mortality
of Aedes sp. The sample used was 20 Aedes sp larvae per treatment and control dose so that a total of 240 Aedes sp larvae. The analysis was carried out descriptively and compared according to the 1995 Pesticide Commission which stated that larvicides were declared effective if they could kill 90-100% of test larvae. This study found mortality of Aedes sp larvae after 24 hours of contact with neem leaf extract at a dose of 50gr/1000ml was 68.3% larvae mortality, at a dose of 70gr/1000ml it amounted to 85% of larvae mortality and at a dose of 90gr/1000ml it
was 95% larvae mortality. No deaths were found in the control group (0% mortality). It can be concluded that neem leaf extract can kill Aedes sp larvae with a more effective dose to kill larvae is at a dose of 90gr/1000ml with 95% mortality compared to doses of 50gr/1000ml and 60gr/1000ml. It is recommended that further researchers need to do additional doses of neem leaves to effectively kill larvae 100% and to eliminate odor, taste and color so as not to reduce the quality of clean water in containers.
