Subject

African Leaves, Current Blood Sugar Levels

Description

Background: Hyperglycemic is an increase in blood sugar levels which takes a long time for treatment. Plants that can be used to lower blood sugar levels are African leaves (Vernonia Amygdalina) because they contain nutrients and chemical compounds that are good for reducing blood sugar levels including flavonoids, saponins, tannins, polyphenols, and alkaloids.
Purpose: Analyze the effectiveness of micro particles of African leaves (vernonia amygdalina) is effective in reducing blood sugar levels in patients with type II diabetes mellitus by controlling diet and age in the intervention and control groups.
Method: Experiment with pre test and post test control group design. The design of this study was used to analyze the effect of giving micro particles of African leaves (vernonia amygdalina) on reducing blood glucose. The subjects in this study were 39 respondents. The intervention for giving African Leaf capsules was carried out for 1 day every 3 days, with two random blood sugar measurements.statistical test General Linear Model Repeated Measure Anova and Post Hoc Bonferroni to see differences in blood sugar levels before and after (pre-post) intervention
Results: There were differences in blood glucose levels before and after the intervention with p value <0.05
Conclusion: African leaf extract (vernonia amygdalina) in a dose of 44 mg / KgBW is effective for reducing excess or hyperglycemic blood sugar levels with an average reduction of 69.679.
