Description

Background: The Patient who will undergo operation in the hospital having mental helath problem. Some heath problem are stress, anxiety, loss dan grieving, low self esteem and depression. Therefore, The nurses must give comprehensive nursing care. The majority patients who will have an operation experienced anxiety unless they received psycho-spiritual therapy. However, many nurses did not apply this as part of a holistic care. This condition could be seen from the patients themselves, who seemed worried when they would undergo the scheduled operation. There were even some patients who refused to have an operation. One way to solve the problem was to apply the principles of psycho spiritual therapy.
Objectives: The aim of this research was to know the influence of
psycho-spiritual therapy toward the anxiety level of pre operation patients’ at PKU Muhammadiyah of Yogyakarta. The research methods: The experimental study applied in this research. The population of the sample was pre- operation patients at PKU Muhammadiyah hospital. There were 30 patients; 15 as an experimental group and 15 as a control group. The T-test was used to analyze the data.
Result : The study showed that there was a significant effect of psycho spiritual therapy toward anxiety level of pre operation patients on the experimental group. Therefore, nurses should carry out comprehensive examination of the pre-operation patients, from biopsycho-social-spiritual aspects and apply psycho-spiritual therapy to decrease the anxiety level of the pre operation patients.
