Description
Introduction: Every country needs preparation to face disasters, especially
Indonesia, which is in the ring of fire, an active volcano cluster. In an
emergency to provide first aid, the midwife can perform health services
outside her authority according to her competence. First aid aims to save
the client's life or circumstances that threaten the client's life. The research
aims to analyze the differences between the medical disaster preparation
kit and the midwife kit for midwife preparedness in dealing with disasters
in disaster-prone areas at UPT Kandang Mas Community Health Center,
Bengkulu City, in 2023.
Methods: The research design used a quasi-experimental design of two
groups pre-test and post-test. The research sample was all midwives in the
Kandang Mas Community Health Center Working Area, totaling 30 people,
taken using a purposive sampling technique. Midwives who have attended
disaster preparedness training. Univariate analysis is presented in mean,
standard deviation, min, and max. Mann-Whitney bivariate analysis was
carried out because the data is not normally distributed.
Results: The average preparedness and attitude of the medical disaster
emergency kit group is higher than that of the midwife kit group, indicating
that there is a difference between the medical disaster emergency kit and
the midwife kit regarding the preparedness and attitude of midwives in
dealing with disasters.
Conclusion: The average preparedness and attitude of the medical disaster
emergency kit group is higher than that of the midwife kit group, thus
indicating that there is a difference between the medical disaster
emergency kit and the midwife kit regarding the preparedness and
attitude of midwives in facing disasters.
