Description
Background: Non-Hemorrhagic Stroke (SNH) is a stroke caused by a clot or thrombus in the blood vessels of the
brain, resulting in Blood flow and oxygen supply to the brain will decrease, which will cause the brain to become
ischemic and infarcted. One of the nursing management of hemiparesis that can be carried out is Bridging Exercise
therapy to improve muscle tone and increase the client's muscle strength. Bridging exercise is the right technique to
strengthen the muscles around the lumbar and pelvic vertebral columns, especially for stroke patients with impaired
balance and muscle strength. In ICU 2 of the Yogyakarta Private Hospital, data was obtained that 7 patients
experienced hemorrhagic strokes and 5 non-hemorrhagic strokes and 3 of them experienced impaired physical
mobility and decreased muscle strength. Main Symptoms in Mr. S, Therapeutic Intervention, and Outcome: The results
of the assessment found general symptoms, namely the client experienced a decrease in muscle strength in the right
hand and right leg. The muscle strength scale of the right hand and leg was two on the first day. Bridging Exercise
therapy is given according to the inclusion criteria for patients. Bridging Exercise Therapy is carried out twice a day
for three days. This therapy is carried out eight repetitions with a duration of eight seconds for one movement. The
results of the intervention showed that there was a difference in the average value before and after the Bridging
Exercise therapy for the right hand was 3 and the right leg was 4.Conclusion: Bridging Exercise Therapy can increase
muscle strength in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients.
